The Kootenay Valley Railway, operated as an internal short line by Canadian Pacific, lies across British Columbia’s southern interior as it stretches through some of the Province’s most spectacular scenery. Elevation Media has extensively captured the railway across the system from SD40-2’s dominating the mainline to yard switchers climbing 4.2% grades. Follow the KVR’s only train, “The Hot Shot,” starting from Cranbrook as it travels to Nelson, along the Kootenay River to Castlegar, and then following the Columbia River to Trail. Watch the yard crew in Castlegar switching along the Robson Spur and the Trail Switcher as it battles some of the most tortures grades in North America to Warfield.
